Using Colour
   

Good colour selection can dramatically increase readability, especially at a distance. Certain colour combinations provide better contrast and have been proven to be most effective and easiest to read. Some of these combinations are shown here:

                       

Apart from these practical aspects, designers must also consider colour symbolism. Red is exciting and active, it suggests boldness and efficiency and is appetite inspiring. Blue is cool and serene, it suggests wisdom, dignity and stability. Every colour has its own character and must be used to best advantage.
